Founded in 2021, S.U.R. is a device for decolonization; because we understan the south (sur) not just as geography but as a way of standing, experiencing and dancing through the world. S.U.R. is a platform where uncomfortable conversations emerge, through a global South-North dialogue that allows us to overcome colonial epistemic, aesthetic and cultural paradigms. S.U.R. is a collective promoting care, comfort, support and expression. It is a collaborative space where we engage with the development and dissemination of cultural, artistic and knowledge practices.

Intento: A decolonial Attempt 

Intento is an experiment and a living archive based on different research initiatives engaging with Latin American contexts present at Aalto University. Rather than relying only on the preexisting structures of the university, Intento opens up a space to foster collaboration, circulation, and reflection in order to disseminate and instigate forms of knowledge that challenge Western epistemological hegemony.

Nasty Delicioso: Banana Edition

Nasty Delicioso is a collective feast that stews dialogues revealing the interconnection of the ephemeral act of eating and its unpeeled implications.

During the Banana Edition we gathered in the public space in order to hand in free banana pancakes, which have previously been cooked with care ︎. Ironically, this was a tempting invitation to join us to converse about the bloody and poisonous history (and present) of Chiquita Banana. Sweet and sour feelings, and lots to digest!
